On May 14 and 15, the Santa Teresa Literary Festival (Flist) will stir the Centro Cultural Municipal Parque das Ruínas and the Centro Cultural Municipal Laurinda Santos Lobo with a large program and many free activities.
Literature is on the spotlight, and the festival this year pays homage to Nei Lopes, a samba musician, songwriter, and researcher of the African Arts, and to the illustrator and writer André Neves. The essay writer, romance writer, and playwright Ariano Suassuna, a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters, and the author of books like O Auto da Compadecida will receive a homage worthy of his work. The long program also includes plays, dances, music, visual arts, and circus activities, with a strong appeal for children and young people.
To get to the neighborhood, try the pleasant tram trip, which connects the Largo da Carioca terminal to the Largo dos Guimarães stop, in Santa Teresa. The tram works from 11am to 4pm, from Monday to Saturday, and it’s free. Check the full program on the official website ceat.org.br/flist.
