Opened in 1998, Semente has become a reference in the city when the subject is live Samba.

Open daily from 7 PM to 2 AM, it was the establishment that hosted and launched the careers of established musicians such as Yamandu Costa, Teresa Cristina, Nicolas Krassik and the Casuarina group. Closed sometime between 2003 and 2004, the bar was reopened thanks to a mobilization done by the musicians and the regulars. The bar is so respected that even Chico Buarque has showed up to do a surprise performance to the regulars. They say it was a historical night…
The violinist Zé Pualo Becker performs there every Monday. The house serves a plank of cold cuts, cheeses and sandwiches as appetizers.
