Take a ride at the Sisghtseeing Rio Bus.
Rio de Janeiro has a new option for tourists and cariocas who wish to get to know the city and its beauties: the Sightseeing Rio, panoramic buses that take passengers on a tour connecting Ipanema to the Port Zone, showcasing the natural and historic-cultural attractions of the city – all with the help of bilingual tour guides. The project is the result of a partnership between Riotur and Rio Ônibus, and the buses operate daily, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., departing every 40 minutes, from General Osório Square, in Ipanema. The buses pass through some of Rio’s most important tourist attractions, like Arpoador beach, Fort Copacabana and Copacabana beach, Botafogo cove, The Modern Art Museum, Candelária Church, Tiradentes Square, Lapa, Praça XV and Mauá Square, among others. The itinerary also includes a stop at Urca, on the cable car landing of the Sugar Loaf.
The tour costs R$80, and the payment is made when entering the bus, by cash, credit or debit card. Children under 7 years old have free admission. A wristband will be used to identify those who can get back on the bus on its stops – all of which are properly identified with Sightseeing Rio signs. Sightseeing Rio has a total of 4 buses, one of which is a two story bus. The double deck can carry up to 71 passengers and the 2nd story has an open top, allowing visitors to have an unobstructed view of the attractions along the way. The other three vehicles carry up to 50 passengers and have panoramic windows.
