Located in Recreio dos Bandeirantes district, in West Zone, Museu Casa do Pontal is considered the country’s biggest and most significative museum of popular art. Its collection – the result of forty years of research and trips all over the country by the French designer Jacques Van de Beuque – consists of an average of 8.000 pieces from 200 Brazilian artists, produced since 20th century. The museum permanent exhibit Museu gathers, in 1.500 m2 galleries, items representing different Brazilian culture, rural and urban. Displayed thematically, cover daily tasks and also joyful, imaginary and religious activities.
